Performed here in Brahms' own arrangement for piano duet, his dark and brooding German Requiem is a masterpiece of choral writing. It also includes the poignant soprano solo movement, written in memory of his Mother.
There is also the stunningly beautiful song "Morgen!" written early in Strauss' life, and dedicated to his wife Pauline.
Concert Diary
Lesley-Jane’s concert diary has always exhibited an eclectic mix of engagements, serving to demonstrate her wide-ranging vocal skills and the enormous variety of musical styles she undertakes. In particular new music items feature large, but naturally there has also been the typical demand for “greats”.
Post lockdown, concert bookings have been fewer, but she has remained in demand for recordings, and has received some lovely reviews thereby. Most recently:
”Lesley-Jane Rogers’ soaring soprano voice is crystal clear and a perfect vehicle for the lovely songs”
Steve Arloff, MusicWeb International, September 2024 , reviewing 'Thomas Pitfield - His Friends & Contemporaries' CD
Her Past Concerts page makes fascinating reading: from Purcell to Bach to Mozart to Mendelssohn to Brahms to Verdi to R. Strauss to Finzi, to Tippett to Diana Burrell. It’s all there.
