Lesley-Jane has been a private piano teacher for many years, taking students from beginner level to advanced. Whether a pupil chooses to study for formal music exams or to learn for pure pleasure is entirely up the individual. Nevertheless, it is worth noting that several of her former students have gone on to read music either at University or a Conservatoire!
In the initial stages, she encourages exploration of the piano and its sound, imaginative work, finger work, and has an easy way of introducing note-reading and rhythmic values. She firmly believes that music should be fun! In later stages she encourages good technique, a sound musical knowledge and awareness of different musical styles.
Lesley-Jane studied piano and singing at the Royal Academy of Music, from where she also gained her Piano Teaching Qualification [LRAM]. She teaches at her home on a Boston Grand Piano.
Styles: Lesley-Jane teaches Baroque (including work with harpsichord); Classical; Romantic; 20th Century; and Printed Jazz. She also teaches THEORY.
She is DBS certified.
